9 ORCHARD STREET
This boutique hotel in Dimes Square on New York's Lower East Side is our most ambitious project to date. Lodged in the turn-of-the-century Jarmulowsky Bank building, the owners, developers and designers of this property chose to honor the history and create contemporary victorian experiences throughout. We wanted to continue this narrative on the exterior, through a series of plantings flanking the five ground level entrances, each with a uniqueness to them but connected visually. As the scale of this project was on the larger side, we installed foundation plantings of large Native evergreens, deciduous flowering trees, and green Japanese Maples. We change out portions of the plants seasonally, to create year-round color and interest.
